NFL insider reveals contract terms for Falcons RB Brian Robinson Jr.

Despite limited salary cap space, the Atlanta Falcons have taken full advantage of NFL free agency so far. The team added two more veteran free agents on Tuesday afternoon, agreeing to terms with running back Brian Robinson Jr. and quarterback Trevor Siemian.

Robinson will become the Falcons’ new No. 2 running back this season, replacing former fifth-round pick Tyler Allgaier as Bijan Robinson’s backup. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Robinson will sign a one-year contract worth $2.5 million.

Allgaier signed a two-year, $12.25 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals during the first week of NFL free agency. The former 1,000-yard rusher has a chance to start for the Cardinals this season. Allgaier will make more than $6 million a year in Arizona, while Robinson will make less than $3 million.

So what exactly did the Falcons get in Robinson? The former third-round pick began his career with the Washington Commanders in 2022, rushing 797 times and scoring two touchdowns as a rookie.

Robinson showed more versatility in his second season. He rushed for 733 yards and completed 36 receptions, setting a career-best 368 receiving yards and nine total touchdowns. Last season in San Francisco, Robinson also served as a kick returner.

The 27-year-old looks like another quality addition to first-year Falcons general manager Ian Cunningham.
