Newt Gingrich’s ‘Gaslighting’ Spin On Trump Speech Has Critics Saying ‘OMFG’

Critics on Wednesday wondered whether former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) had seen the same speech from President Donald Trump.

Gingrich gave a glowing review of the president’s national address on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show, which was widely derided as a dud by people in both parties.

Politics: Donald Trump’s latest smug claim doesn’t pan out as he hoped

“It was worth watching President Trump deliver a disciplined 19-minute speech that covered many facts [former President] Ronald Reagan,” Gingrich gushed.

“It was a good speech. It was an important speech,” Trump’s longtime ally continued fawningly. “One day people will say this was one of the most important speeches of his career because it set the stage for the entire debate next year and what it said [former President Joe] What Biden has done has turned this country into a disaster, what Trump has done, where we are headed overall, and why this is the right direction. “

“I think this is a very, very important speech,” he added.

Gingrich later called Trump “one of the most influential presidents of all time” and said that if the Republican Party goes well in the 2026 midterm elections, he will soon be “comparable to the top three or four presidents in American history.”

“I believe President Trump showed tonight that he is ready to focus, be disciplined, and communicate, and if I were a Democrat, tonight would make me very uncomfortable,” he concluded.

Critics on social media aren’t buying it:
