Nets’ Ziaire Williams (personal reasons) available vs. Mavericks

The Brooklyn Nets have had a tough time on their first road trip since the All-Star break, going 3-0 against some of the best teams in the NBA. Brooklyn dealt with some injuries on the road trip, but when they return to snowy New York, the Nets will finally have a fully healthy rotation for the first time in a while.

The Nets announced Monday that forward Ziaire Williams will play Tuesday against the Dallas Mavericks after missing the road trip due to personal reasons. Williams has dealt with some injuries this season, but he has been available for the most part and has had his fair share of positive moments while playing for head coach Jordy Fernandez.

Williams, 24, had another solid season with the Nets, averaging 9.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists while shooting 40.7% from the field and 31.3% from three-point range. Williams has come off the bench for most of the season and with him available it could mean Fernandes will have to choose between him, forward Terrence Mann and forward Ochai Agbaji.

The most positive thing about the injury report is that the entire starting lineup is available against the Mavericks in a potentially winnable game. Dallas will be without rookie Cooper Flagg (foot), guard Kyrie Irving (knee) and Derrick Lively II (foot) for Monday’s game, so Brooklyn won’t have to worry about guarding those players.

The Nets are looking to get a win soon as they are currently riding a four-game losing streak that began with a 115-110 loss to the Indiana Pacers before the All-Star break. Forward Michael Porter Jr. has struggled with his offensive production as of late, but hopes a game against a Flagg-less Mavericks might be his chance to bounce back.
