This marks an important moment given Jessica’s long absence from competitive golf.

The six-time LPGA Tour champion has now opened up about her return and her admiration for her sister.

Nellie and Jessica Korda will play in same LPGA event for third consecutive year

This week’s Ford Championship provides a rare opportunity for the Korda sisters to compete side by side again.

Jessica has not played regularly on the LPGA Tour since withdrawing after the first round of the 2023 Founders Cup.

She has since retired due to a back injury and the birth of her first child, Grayson.

The two have competed together in unofficial events, including the Grant Thornton Invitational in December and the Seminole Pro Tournament earlier this month.

But this is their first appearance together at an official LPGA championship in nearly three years.

Jessica Korda talks comeback and expresses admiration for Nelly’s game

Jessica admits that there was a time when she didn’t expect to return to competitive golf.

“After I pulled out of a few events in 2023, I didn’t think I’d be playing again, so it feels good to be here and we’ll see where it takes us,” she told Golfweek. “Three years is a long time.”

The 33-year-old continues to deal with her back issues while also working on making technical changes to her swing.

“I’d been playing injured for so long that I had developed some bad habits, so I just regressed to watching Nellie’s hips swivel so beautifully, and that’s what I was trying to do,” she explained. “But it’s a very slow process.”

Jessica also openly expressed her admiration for Nellie, who is currently one of the best players in the world.

“I’m so jealous of how she’s rotating the ball now. I think that’s something I’m working towards,” she added.

“But the way she feels, the touch around the greens, playing in tough conditions, how she puts her head down and works hard. I think if you saw her name on the leaderboard in bad weather, you’d think, ‘Oh, cr–‘”

“And it’s her determination that irritates me. You just know she’d rather rip your throat out than lose.”
