Nebraska women’s basketball earns second straight win against Indiana

The Nebraska women’s basketball team (14-2, 3-2) faces a conference opponent from Indiana for the second straight time, this time taking on the Hoosiers (11-6, 0-5) in Thursday night’s game. The Huskers defeated Indiana 78-73 for another victory.

Nebraska started the first half with a slim lead over the Indians and led 38-30 at halftime. Indiana responded in the third quarter, tying the game at 53 heading into the fourth quarter. But after a rough third quarter, the Huskers outscored the Indians in the final 10 minutes.

Nebraska took one fewer shot than Indiana despite taking 10 more. But the Huskers successfully attacked from beyond the arc and from the free throw line, beating Indiana 8-4 and 14-11 respectively. Nebraska also shook off 11 Indians turnovers and finished with 19 points in the victory.

Britt Prince led the way, scoring a team-high 20 points on 6-for-11 shooting and 7-for-7 from the free throw line. She also had a team-high seven assists on the night.

Jessica Petrie scored 18 points for Nebraska, leading the team in scoring on 8-of-14 shooting and grabbing a team-high 7 rebounds. Logan Nislee made 3 of 6 shots from the field, 2 of 5 from three-point range, and 3 of 4 from the free throw line to score 11 points.

Amiah Hargrove and Eliza Maupin each scored 9 points, and they combined for 4 shots and 1 shot from beyond the arc. The two also grabbed 13 rebounds combined, with Maupin grabbing 7 rebounds and Petrie and Hargrove grabbing 6 rebounds.

Nebraska will head back home for its next big test of the season, welcoming No. 4 UCLA for a Sunday night showdown. Game time on the Big Ten Network is scheduled for 6 p.m. Central Time.
