Nearly 18,000 at Iran demonstration in German city of Dusseldorf

Nearly 18,000 participants had taken part in a “Free Iran” demonstration in the German city of Dusseldorf as of Saturday afternoon, police said.

They carried banners demanding the return of Reza Pahlavi, the last king’s son. The banner reads “King Reza Pahlavi” and is accompanied by a large photo of the Iranian politician and former crown prince, who currently lives in the United States.

Demonstrators marched through the city center to the regional parliament. A police spokesman said everything remained calm until the afternoon.
