Ole Miss golfer Michael La Sasso, who won the 2025 NCAA Championship, will forgo his remaining college eligibility to join Phil Mickelson’s LIV Golf’s HyFlyers GC team.
Lhasaso confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday, saying he was excited to learn from Mickelson and start his career “at the highest level on the global stage.”
“I am extremely excited to join HyFlyers GC and take the next step in my career,” La Sasso said in a press release. “This is an incredible opportunity to learn from one of the greatest players in golf history, and one I don’t take lightly. LIV Golf allows me to compete at the highest level on a global stage, and I thrive in a team environment, especially the camaraderie and support that HyFlyers GC exemplifies. My focus is on learning, continuous improvement, and doing whatever I can to help our team succeed.”
Mickelson had nothing but good things to say about Lasaso in his statement, calling him one of the “most exciting young players in the game.”

The team also introduced LaSasso in a tweet on Tuesday, in which Mickelson continued to hype the former Rebel.
With the move, Lhasaso also lost the Masters invitation he had earned after winning the 2025 NCAA tournament. Lhasaso’s participation in the Masters in April depends on whether he remains an amateur. After signing with LIV Golf, Lhasaso no longer holds that title.
According to The Athletic, Lasasso will complete his degree online and is expected to make his LIV Golf debut in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in February.
LaSasso, 21, played golf at North Carolina State and the University of Mississippi before rising to prominence at Ole Miss, where he was a first-team All-American before two seasons with the Rebels. He competed in six PGA Tour events as an amateur but failed to make the cut in five of them, including the 2025 U.S. Open.

Lhasaso is not the first NCAA player to make the jump to LIV Golf. The organization signed 2021 NCAA champion Turk Pettit ahead of his first season in 2022. Last year, LIV Golf added Arizona State University senior Josele Ballester, who was considered one of the top amateur golfers in the country before signing with LIV.
