Early in the fourth quarter of the Timberwolves’ 138-116 victory over the Hawks, Reid and Gay began to struggle after Gay pushed Reid near the wing and was called for a foul. Things escalated quickly, with several assistant coaches and other players separating the two men after they grabbed each other’s jerseys.
Reed and Gay were both ejected from that game at Target Center. Guyer came off the bench to score 10 points and 7 rebounds. Reid scored 7 points and 6 rebounds for the Timberwolves.
The battle of this game was largely overshadowed by Monday night’s game. The incident resulted in the ejection of four players and the league suspended multiple players on Wednesday. Isaiah Stewart received the harshest penalty and will be suspended for seven games.
