Nashville Police make arrest in December homicide investigation

Nashville police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a December homicide investigation at a Madison apartment complex.

On December 20 at about 7:20 p.m., police were called to an apartment on Skyline Ridge Drive and found 23-year-old Aubrey Bellamy lying on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound.

Paramedics tried to help Bellamy, but he died at the scene, according to court records. Bellamy’s autopsy revealed he was shot in the lower back and the bullet exited the left side of his chest.

On March 3, police arrested Jaleic Horton on a charge of criminal homicide.

According to Horton’s arrest affidavit, he, another man and Bellamy got into a fight in the apartment. Bellamy fell to the kitchen floor and when he tried to get up, Horton shot him, the affidavit said.

Two witnesses identified Horton as the shooter, the affidavit said.

Horton was booked into the Downtown Detention Center without bond.
