A 68-year-old Naples man died after trying to cross a main thoroughfare as traffic approached, authorities said.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report, the accident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Jan. 28 near Bayshore Drive on U.S. 41 in East Naples.
Police said a Lexus SUV was traveling south on Highway 41 when the pedestrian attempted to cross the southbound lane.
Authorities said the pedestrian suffered serious injuries and died at a hospital.

He was one of at least five people killed in collisions in Collier County this year. Collier County recorded 30 traffic fatalities in 2025, down from the 59 reported in 2024.
