A 32-year-old North Cornwall Twp. A man has been charged with allegedly threatening a female victim with a firearm, according to the Lebanon County Regional Police Department.
At 2:13 a.m. on January 25, police responded to the 400 block of Springwood Avenue for a report of an assault. Police spoke with the victim, who said Matthew Cooper allegedly threatened her with a gun.
The victim claimed Cooper came home, grabbed her left arm and pulled her off the couch. Cooper then pulled the victim into the bathroom because “he wanted to talk to her,” according to court documents.
“While in the bathroom, the defendant pulled a loaded Taurus G2c out of his pocket and placed it on the victim’s forehead, stating that he would be happy to go to jail,” police said in the report.
During the incident, a witness took the victim’s young son into another room.
Cooper allegedly concealed the loaded firearm and left the residence after the argument. Police said he hid the gun on the floorboard under the driver’s seat of a 2019 Ford Escape.
Police arrested Cooper at Amcor Packaging that same day and allegedly retrieved the firearm from the vehicle.
“The defendant admitted that the firearm belonged to him and admitted to placing the firearm under the driver’s seat of the vehicle while driving,” police said in the report.
Cooper was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, simple assault and harassment. District Judge John Ditzler has scheduled a preliminary hearing on February 5 at 8:30 a.m.
