SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting at a home in the gated community of Amberlea that left multiple people dead.

SCSO Public Information Officer Matt Binkley told reporters at the scene that no survivors were found inside the home. He could not say exactly how many victims there were.
He said none of the victims had yet been identified and a weapon was recovered from the scene. There is no ongoing threat to the public.

There is a heavy law enforcement presence in the area of Proctor Road and McIntosh Road. Residents are asked to avoid the area if possible.
Binkley said a neighbor called 911 at 12:24 p.m. to notify police of the shooting.
