The 20-year-old finally made his return for Rob Page’s side for their second Premier League game against Manchester City on Monday night, but it didn’t take long for misfortune to strike again.

Liverpool were trailing 1-0 when the collision occurred, and Will Wright was duly called on as a substitute. His header was then blocked off the line, but in the end Page’s side suffered their first defeat of 2026 (liverpoolfc.com).

Dance has been plagued by injury problems since the start of 2025
It’s a devastating setback for Dance, who has just returned to action after nearly six months out and is now back to square one almost immediately, with his injury woes showing no signs of abating since the start of 2025.
He joined Sunderland (then a Championship side) on loan in the early weeks of last year but never made a appearance for the team due to a back problem.
After his big breakthrough in Liverpool’s first team two years ago (he played at Wembley and scored his first senior goal within four days), the world seemed to be at his oyster, with him playing just 14 games at all levels and playing less than 600 minutes (Transfer Market).

Dance, who was previously touted by Page as “England’s next No. 9”, has been unlucky over the past year, with injury problems hampering his development and costing him nearly 12 months of his fledgling career.
We wish the 20-year-old good luck in recovering from his latest setback and hope that the issues that have plagued him recently will eventually be a thing of the past.
