ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Major League Baseball has finalized plans for a two-game series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres on April 25-26 at Alfredo Hapuhelu Stadium in Mexico City.
The series was anticipated when the regular-season schedule was announced in August, but was not confirmed until Wednesday. Arizona State will be the home team in both games.

This will be the third regular-season game in Mexico City, following the Padres’ sweep of San Francisco in 2023 and Houston’s sweep of Colorado in 2024 (a two-game series).
Races scheduled for 2020 in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Mexico City were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, and a race scheduled for 2025 was also canceled due to financial issues.
Regular season games were played in 1996 (Padres and New York Mets), 1999 (Padres and Rockies), 2018 (Los Angeles Dodgers and Padres), and 2019 (Cincinnati and St. Louis, Houston and Los Angeles Angels).
MLB’s collective bargaining agreement also called for games in Paris in 2025 and London next year, but the trip to France was canceled after failing to find a sponsor, while the UK series was called off due to scheduling issues at West Ham’s Olympic Stadium and Fox TV. The CBA has called for games to be played in San Juan in 2026, but that has not yet been announced.
