Missing 12-year-old Oklahoma boy found safe

Missing 12-year-old Ryan “RJ” Davis has been found safe, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.

OSBI said in a Facebook post on Sunday, Jan. 11, that Davis was located in Chickasha.

“OSBI thanks all local law enforcement partners and search teams for their assistance throughout the week,” an OSBI release said. “We will provide updates as they become available.

The boy has been missing since January 2.

News9 reported Sunday afternoon that OSBI spokesman Hunter McKee said the Combined Cajun Navy made contact with RJ and brought him back to a hotel where authorities processed him and transported him to a hospital. Authorities say RJ is in good health, News9 reports

Cajun United Navy is a nonprofit grassroots organization in Louisiana dedicated to assisting with search and rescue efforts and disaster recovery.

The boy’s mother, Kimberly Kay Cole, and stepfather, George Franklin Cole Jr., were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of child abuse and remained in custody at the Anacocado County Jail as of Sunday. It’s unclear if the charges are directly related to RJ’s disappearance, but police made the arrests after interviewing the parents and obtaining evidence from a search warrant.

On Thursday, January 8, authorities said they believed RJ was still alive. Before Sunday, he was last seen Jan. 2 near the Chickasha Quality Inn.

Searchers are targeting a vast rural area from Cement to Chickasha, less than an hour’s drive from Oklahoma City. The search included properties associated with the home. It’s unclear where in Chickasha the boy was found, according to OSBI’s Facebook post.
