Nearly a month after the Minnesota Vikings season ended, their general manager is stepping down.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reported Friday afternoon that the Vikings have fired Kwesi Adofo-Mensah after four seasons as general manager. The team quickly announced that front office executive Rob Brzezinski would take over as de facto general manager on an interim basis during the NFL draft. The team will decide on the long-term leader of the front office after April’s draft, which gives them time to thoroughly vet the candidates.

The team released a statement, saying: “Following our annual end-of-season organizational meeting held over the past few weeks, and after careful consideration, we have determined that it is in the best interest of the team to appoint new football operations leadership. These decisions are never easy. We thank Kwesi for his contributions to the team over the past four years. “
Notably, Adofo-Mensah was on the field during Senior Bowl practices this week and appears to be preparing for the team’s draft. Was this move foreseen? Maybe, but the timing may be the most shocking aspect of it all.
