minneapolis police chief Brian O’Hara Questioning actions of ICE agent who shot protester Renee Goode In an interview earlier this month 60 minutes on Sunday. O’Hara said the agent violated “basic steps” police knew about approaching the vehicle.
correspondent Cecilia Vega Calling the shooting a national “Rorschach test,” some Americans believe it was a “senseless killing” while others believe it was “a police officer defending his own life.”
O’Hara said he watched footage of the incident and asked why the officer was in front of Goode’s SUV before the shooting.
“It’s unclear to me why he was in the path of the vehicle more than once,” O’Hara said. “When you approach someone in a vehicle during law enforcement, there are some very basic steps you can take to ensure the safety of the officer and de-escalate the situation.”
Vega later said Vice President J.D. Vance placed the blame for the shooting “directly” on Goode the day after the attack. She also said DHS officials accused Goode and her partner of “stalking” immigration officials; Vega did not mention the video DHS shared last week showing Goode blocking traffic with her car for three minutes before agents approached her.
CBS News reported on ICE agents this week — Jonathan Ross – Was struck by Goode’s vehicle before he fired his weapon, causing internal bleeding.
O’Hara told 60 minutes He favored “targeted, precise, pre-planned operations against violent offenders”, which he said was a “good thing”.
“But I worry about people [Trump] The government doesn’t know the truth about what’s happening on the streets,” he added.
this 60 minutes Crews also captured a heckler yelling at O’Hara, calling him an ICE-enabled “pig” as he walked and talked with Vega.
“People have the right to say disrespectful things … but they cannot physically impede law enforcement from carrying out their duties,” O’Hara said. “Those things are illegal.”
