It seems likely that Liverpool will enter the midfielder market in the summer.
The fate of Curtis Jones hangs in the balance. Alexis McAllister attracts interest from Real Madrid. Liverpool’s midfield depth is insufficient.

Fans have been dreaming about Elliot Anderson or Adam Walton on social media. They are two players Liverpool are currently lacking.
Anderson and Walton are pace makers, they control and determine the tempo of the game. They make things happen on the field and provide the team with more security on the ball.
Currently, Liverpool does not have such an image.
The Arne Slot has Ryan Gravenberch who is very good at reading the game and then using the run to get the ball out of the backfield. Dominik Szoboszlai can fill this role, but he needs further forward to develop his counterattacking ability.

But what if there was a better solution than Wharton or Anderson?
Liverpool will pay dearly for both men. Given that there will be so much focus on strengthening other parts of the pitch, including centre-back, right-back and attack, Liverpool may not have the budget to cover the needs of either Walton or Anderson.
It’s unfortunate that the club has always operated this way, so they may look for better alternatives.
Someone who makes more sense financially to them and is just as special.
That’s why Tyler Morton is exceeding expectations every week and looks destined to return to Liverpool.

He’s a lot like Wharton and Anderson. Morton has learned his trade from Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara and has been hailed as a huge prospect by Jurgen Klopp, who is not afraid to start him at the San Siro in the Champions League.
When he left Liverpool last summer, that chapter seemed to be over.
But instead, Morton has become one of the best young midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues. His ability on the ball and reading of the game would make him an excellent option for Liverpool.
Importantly, the club has also lost a lot of homegrown talent recently. They could lose even more in the upcoming summer window if Joe Gomez or Curtis Jones leave.

Both are possible and would increase the need for Liverpool to bring in a home-grown player, especially one who has been trained by the club like Morton.
Liverpool did not include a buy-back clause in Morton’s contract. That’s because Ligue 1 doesn’t allow it. However, The Athletic reports that Liverpool have a 20% commission clause on the future sale of Morton. This is on top of the 5% he already earned as an academy player.
So if they want to sign him in the summer, they can do so for an absolute bargain.
Morton’s return to Anfield now feels inevitable, both for financial reasons and for Liverpool’s needs, and it will be special to see him in a red shirt again.
His elegant technique makes him a very exciting player.
