Xbox Full Screen Experience, Microsoft’s new console-like interface for Windows-based handheld devices, is now officially available on MSI Claw models. Full Screen Experience (FSE) launched with ROG Xbox Ally handheld devices in October and is now coming to MSI Claw devices as part of the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build.

In a Windows Insider blog post last week, Microsoft confirmed that it was extending the availability of Xbox FSE to other Windows 11 handheld devices currently on the market. In addition to the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X featuring the FSE interface, which launched on October 16, the interface is now available to Windows Insiders on the MSI Claw handheld device.

Microsoft said that more OEM manufacturers will officially enable FSE on their handheld devices in the coming months. For example, Lenovo said in September that the Xbox interface would be available on its Legion Go 2 handheld device when it is ready in the spring of 2026.

How to enable FSE on Windows handheld devices

To enable FSE on a compatible Windows-based handheld device, go to Settings > Gaming > Full screen experienceand then select Xbox as your home app. The handheld device can then be configured to enter FSE on boot. It can also be accessed from the Task View and Game Bar.

The Xbox full-screen experience leaked on other Windows handheld devices in September, as a launch preview as part of a Windows 11 update. Several handheld users reported being able to switch the Xbox interface on their Windows devices before the Xbox interface was launched on the ROG Xbox Ally handheld device.

However, FSE is officially available in preview on ROG Xbox Ally, ROG Xbox Ally X, and now MSI Claw handheld devices. The interface will be rolled out later on Asus’ ROG Ally and Ally X devices, due in 2023 and 2024 respectively. Microsoft and Asus have previously confirmed that Xbox FSE will be coming to other Windows handheld devices in 2026. Lenovo has confirmed a spring 2026 schedule for the Legion Go 2.

When the Xbox full-screen experience is enabled, Windows handheld devices can boot directly into the new Xbox interface, giving users a console experience similar to SteamOS on the Steam Deck. FSE minimizes background tasks and defers non-essential tasks on Windows to free up memory and optimize gaming performance.
