Folks, this is just a completely normal day at Meta Headquarters. There’s nothing to see here, no unsubstantiated rumors of a feud, no billion-dollar breakups. Just two very happy, smiling colleagues.
look? Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg just posted this photo of himself arm-in-arm with Alexandr Wang, founder of Scale AI and current head of Meta AI superintelligence. Just two happy guys!

As a regular person, if you stumbled upon this photo (which has gone viral) while browsing a thread, you might be confused. What’s going on with this photo?
Here’s the backstory:
Recently, the Wall Street Journal reported that Meta has reorganized its artificial intelligence architecture and formed a new team of applied artificial intelligence engineers. Last summer, Meta invested more than $14 billion to buy a 49% stake in Wang’s data labeling company Scale AI, and later hired Alexandr Wang as chief artificial intelligence officer. The new applied AI team is separate from Wang’s team and reports to Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth, according to the Wall Street Journal.
This is where things get weird. Last week, The Times of India ran a headline saying, “Mark Zuckerberg may no longer be ‘breaking up’ with Meta’s highest-paid employee, as company shakeup shows.” The story went viral on Reddit and was aggregated by IDN Financials. Meta spokesman Andy Stone disputed the report on X, and as of Tuesday, the headline had been changed.
So was the Zuckerberg photo an attempt to quell rumors of tension between the two? Wang has not been driven away, can they still cooperate normally?
While the entire Times of India story created a stir on X, where many people are interested in discussing news about the AI industry, Zuckerberg chose to post the photo to Threads, where discussions about AI office politics are much quieter.
Sure, Mark Zuckerberg has a lot of fans on Threads, but it seems like most people don’t know what’s going on. One of the top comments I saw was someone posting the “Context?” Guy Meme, and then more replies mistook Wang for Roy Lee from Cluely (oof), and someone responded asking Grok who the guy in the photo was (ouch).
So here’s photographic evidence of two happy, normal people — Now you know the backstory if you didn’t know it already. Now keep walking, there’s nothing to see here!
