Man who died after car plunged into Bay in Sausalito Monday identified

(KRON) – Firefighters responded to a call Monday about a submerged vehicle in Sausalito. First responders found two people inside a white Mercedes-Benz 10 feet underwater.

One was medically evaluated at the scene and the other was taken to hospital where he later died. The latter has been identified as Brian Thayer Mullins, 76, of Sausalito, according to the Marin County Coroner.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday and toxicology tests will be conducted, the coroner’s office said. The Marin County Coroner’s Office did not release a specific cause of death.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to officials.

Firefighters responded to the incident around 2:38pm on Monday.
