Man City makes it six Premier League wins in a row with 2-1 victory against Nottingham Forest

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Rayan Cherki kept up Manchester City’s challenge for the Premier League title with a late winner at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The French striker’s 83rd-minute strike secured a 2-1 victory at the City Stadium, giving Pep Guardiola’s side a sixth straight league win.

City have now won eight games in a row and are temporarily at the top of the table – a point ahead of Arsenal, who face Brighton later on Saturday.

“Today was a big win,” Cherki told TNT Sports. “I’m proud of the team because it’s a very complicated game to win.”

It was Cherki’s second goal in three games and fifth in all competitions. He also put City ahead three minutes into the second half when he delivered a complex pass to Tijjani Reijnders.

Omari Hutchinson equalized for relegation-avoiding Forest, who held on for a crucial point until Cherki fired home in a crowded penalty area.

Guardiola looks like a man who believes his side are ready to regain the title they lost to Liverpool last season. After the final whistle, he acted as conductor and joined in the celebrations with the away fans, who celebrated wildly after another victory.
