Man arrested in Central El Paso for deceptive trade practices

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of deceptive trade practices, according to a press release issued by the El Paso County Precinct 3 Police Office on Monday, March 23.

An officer conducted surveillance at a residence in the 1100 block of North Cotton Street after having prior knowledge that Justin Martinez, 37, had a prior criminal warrant for deceptive trade practices.

The warrant stemmed from an investigation by the El Paso Police Department in which a victim reported approximately $3,000 in financial losses.

During surveillance, the deputy saw Martinez leaving the area in a vehicle. The car was subsequently stopped during a traffic stop along the 2000 block of Bay Court. Officers made contact with Martinez and confirmed the outstanding warrant.

Martinez was later taken into custody without incident and transported to the El Paso County Jail.

“The Fast Track booking system was utilized, which expedited the booking process. Martinez was processed through booking procedures and was subsequently released,” the release reads in part.

Officer Hector Bernal said he encourages the use of the expedited booking system to help streamline the booking process, reduce jail processing times and improve the overall efficiency of the criminal justice system.

Anyone with information about an individual subject to an outstanding arrest warrant is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at (915) 566-TIPS (8477) or the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Third Precinct (915) 273-3590. Tips may remain anonymous.
