EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 29-year-old man was arrested after allegedly punching a deputy in the face during a domestic disturbance, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Shain Lewis Dotson, 29, faces charges of assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest.
On Sunday, December 21, deputies responded to a domestic violence incident in the 12600 block of Katherine Brennan Road in Far East El Paso.
During the response, the suspect became uncooperative and resisted deputies’ attempts to detain him, the Sheriff’s Office said.
During the confrontation, Dotson struck an officer in the face before deputies were able to restrain him and arrest him, the Sheriff’s Office said.
“Our deputies respond to these calls to protect victims and restore safety,” Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said. “Assaults on law enforcement will not be tolerated and we will continue to hold individuals accountable while prioritizing the safety of our officers and communities.”
Dotson was transported to the El Paso County Detention Facility. His bond was set at $16,500.
