Louisiana State University offensive lineman DJ Chester Hayes Fawcett of On3 said he plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Chester has two years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-5, 335-pound Chester leaves Baton Rouge after appearing in 24 games for LSU over the past two seasons, including 14 career starts, including 13 at center as a redshirt freshman in 2024.

A native of Conyers, Georgia, Chester played high school football at Eagle’s Landing Christian in McDonough. He is a four-star, top-150 prospect in the 2023 recruiting cycle. He was also rated a top 10 IOL player in his class and a top 10 player in the state of Georgia. This is based on Rivals’ industry rankings, which utilize a weighted average of all four major recruitment media companies. That makes him one of LSU’s fifth-ranked signees nationally in 23 years, according to Rivals’ industry team recruiting rankings.
Now, Chester is the latest expected transfer in LSU’s offseason coaching shakeup. The Tigers fired Brian Kelly in late October and hired Lane Kiffin in late November. This has resulted in significant roster movement, with double-digit players now declaring their intention to move elsewhere once the offseason portal window officially opens next week.
Chester could have chosen to stay in Bayou as he has been a solid part of their offensive line the past two seasons. Instead, he is the next loser of the program as he plans to spend his final two seasons of eligibility elsewhere once the one-off two-week transfer window opens on January 2.
