LSU defeats Lady Vols basketball

No. 6 LSU (25-4, 11-4 SEC) defeated Tennessee (16-11, 8-7 SEC) 89-73 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Jaida Civil scored a Lady Vols team-high 17 points. She made 5 of 10 field goals, 2 of 4 three-pointers, and 5 of 7 free throws. Civil also totaled 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals in 27 minutes.

Nia Robertson scored 14 points for Tennessee. She made 5 of 8 field goals, 3 of 5 three-pointers, and 1 of 2 free throws.

Talessia Cooper totaled 13 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

LSU outrebounded Tennessee 45-43. The Tigers also scored 50 points in the paint.

The Lady Vols scored 29 points off the bench, 30 points in the paint, 13 points off turnovers, 14 points on second chances and 14 points on the fast break.

Tennessee will play Vanderbilt on March 1 at the Food City Center. The game between the Lady Vols and Commodores is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET and will be televised by ESPN.
