DALLAS — With less than two hours until Tuesday night’s game, Louisville basketball star Will Hanke surveyed the empty stands at Southern Methodist University’s Moody Coliseum.

“I hear it’s loud here,” he said.

That wasn’t an issue when Pat Kelce and the Cardinals visited Dallas last season. Record-setting performances from Chucky Hepburn and Reyne Smith stole the show; but UCL made 6 of 29 shots in the first half and cruised to a 98-73 victory.

However, things were different on Tuesday. No. 21 Louisville (19-7, 8-5 ACC) fell 95-85 in an old-school Texas shootout to snap a five-game winning streak. SMU fans kept them listening all night long.

The Broncos (18-8, 7-6) shot 58.5% from the field and 47.4% from three-point range.

Louisville’s next game is its penultimate home game of the season, Saturday against Georgia Tech at 2:15 p.m. The Yellow Jackets, who host Virginia on Wednesday, have started the week with an 11-15 record and are tied for last in ACC play at 2-11.
