A sequel to Lords of the Fallen is currently in development and is scheduled to be released in 2026 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X. The game, known internally as “Project III,” doesn’t have an official title yet, but publisher CI Games has shared new details about the sequel. “Lords of the Fallen 2” has entered full production and will be released next year. The action RPG is still slated to launch in 2026.
Lord of the Fallen sequel
In a financial report outlining its strategy and roadmap for 2025-2028, CI Games detailed the sequel to Lords of the Fallen, as well as a slate of games planned for the next three years. According to the publisher, Project III, “the next major installment in the LOTF series,” is in full production by developer Hexworks. Just like Lords of the Fallen (2023), the sequel is built on Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5.
CI Games believes that Lords of the Fallen 2 will have “increased appeal and accessibility to existing and broader audiences.” In the report, the publisher also stated that the “Soulslike” game will bring gameplay improvements, such as increased optionality of game modes, a more commercial art style and narrative, and higher production values.
In addition, Lords of the Fallen 2 will offer “a full ‘shared progression’ co-op mode as well as a core single-player campaign.”
The game will be released in 2025, with the publisher confirming that “following Lords 23’s significant marketing spend and growing install base, the marketing campaign will leverage strong brand awareness.” Lords of the Fallen 2 will launch sometime in 2026.
As confirmed in June, the game will be exclusive to PC on the Epic Games Store as part of a deal with Epic Games that gives the Fortnite maker “exclusive global distribution rights” to the PC sequel. CI Games said in its latest financial report that it has received a “significant investment” from Epic for PC exclusivity.
Other development projects
In addition to the Lords of the Fallen sequel, the publisher is also developing two other games that are currently in pre-production and expected to launch in 2028. The first of these is “Project SGW Evolved”, the next entry in the “Sniper: Ghost Warrior” series, also built on Unreal Engine 5. The game, which blends the first-person shooter and survival genres, is scheduled to launch in 2027.
The second is “Project H,” a “major action role-playing IP” in the fantasy genre being developed by Underdog Studios. The game will be developed in Unreal Engine 5 and utilize systems and architecture from Lords of the Fallen and Project III. Project H is targeted for release in 2028.
The 2023 reboot Lords of the Fallen will be released in October 2023 on PS5, Xbox Series S/X and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
