A Long Island man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after authorities say he fatally shot his sister with a crossbow.

The Nassau Police Department said in a press release that on February 13, they responded to a home in Lawrence, New York, and found a 28-year-old woman bleeding from her face. She was taken to hospital for treatment.

Samy Sedhom, 21, was later arrested without incident.

Police said he fired an arrow from a crossbow at the victim, grazing her face.

Nassau County police said Sedom was charged with attempted murder, assault, weapons possession, tampering with evidence and stalking. It was unclear whether he had hired a lawyer or entered a plea.

All three major media outlets reported, citing court documents, that Cederholm admitted to shooting his sister and that he had been planning to kill her since Christmas.

Police found a crossbow, a samurai sword and Sedhom’s laptop at the scene and confiscated the trio, WABC reported.

Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly said the siblings had been fighting over the temperature in their home, News 12 reported.

The outlet further reported that Sedom was allegedly waiting for his sister to come home from the gym before shooting her.
