The Huntersville Police Department is investigating after seven to 10 shots were fired at the home of a Mecklenburg County Commission candidate.
Channel 9’s government reporter Joe Bruno spoke with Aaron Marin, who said the incident occurred at his home on Greenfarm Road with his family around 7:45 pm on Monday.

Marin is the Republican candidate for Mecklenburg County Commission District 1.
One bullet hit a tree, his car, a mailbox and a basketball court.
Children were playing in the driveway shortly before the shooting.
Marin said they called 911 after hearing the car backfiring, and when police arrived, they found shell casings in his driveway.
He didn’t know why someone would attack his home.
“This is happening in our community in Huntersville, which appears to be a safe community,” Marin said. “Today, I don’t feel safe standing in front of you on this street. My kids don’t feel safe. We no longer feel safe playing in our driveways. What we experienced is disturbing.”
The Huntersville Police Department is trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police reported it was a drive-by incident. No arrests have been made. Marin and one of his neighbors provided Ring doorbell cameras in hopes of helping to arrest him.
