Chelsea missed out on Jeremy Jacquet heading to Liverpool despite spending much of January chasing the France Under-21 international.
The Blues could be on the lookout for a centre-back in the summer, but Ronnie Orr has revealed he expects Colwell to be available again this season.
“I’m hopeful,” reporter Bobby Vincent quoted him as saying.
“I’m hopeful because he’s a great player. Again, there’s no time limit.
“You have to live with these long-term injuries day in and day out.
“And it’s not about when he comes back, it’s about him being healthy when he comes back.”
