South Korea’s Si-Woo Kim holds a one-stroke lead over Scottie Scheffler and youngster Blades Brown after the third round of the American Express in California.
Kim, who is competing for his second championship, shot 66 after seven birdies and one bogey in the round to jump to the top of the leaderboard at 22 under.
“Just don’t think about trying to win or trying to finish, just enjoy the round,” King said. “That’s my goal.”
American Scheffler participated in the PGA Tour for the first time this season, while 18-year-old compatriot Brown became the second youngest PGA Tour champion. Both shot 68.

World No. 1 Scheffler had six birdies and two bogeys in this round, while Brown had five birdies and one bogey.
“I think I did a good job,” Scheffler said. “Playing in the wind here is definitely challenging. [I’ve] Gotta be a little sharper tomorrow. “
Unusually, the first three rounds were played on three different courses, with King’s third round at La Quinta Country Club and Scheffler and Brown at Pete Dye Stadium.
Three of Brown’s five birdies came on the final three holes, including a 44-footer on No. 18.

“It’s fun for me. I love this environment, especially being 17,” Brown said.
“There are a lot of people around and that gets your adrenaline going. That’s what you play and practice for, right?”
He added: “There are 18 holes left and we will see what we can do.”
