Charlotte’s new athletic director Kevin White officially took over on Thursday.

White was welcomed to Halton Arena this afternoon and set out his vision for the scheme.

“From a football and men’s basketball standpoint, we have to compete,” White said. “In order for us to take the next step moving forward, we have to be successful at both programs. That’s what it is, but the leadership that we have, those coaches have done it before, we just have to lean into them and see how we can make them better.”
He said he immediately met with coaches, staff and said they are the backbone of the program.
White spent the past four years at Clemson University as the second-in-command in Clemson’s athletic department. While serving as the Tigers’ associate athletic director, he served as the second-in-command in the athletic department.

University of North Carolina at Charlotte President Sharon L. Gaber said Thursday that having someone who can help generate revenue is key to their search for talent, along with visionary leadership and winning. She said White went above and beyond that list.
