Kenneth Walker III is about to join the ranks of Super Bowl MVPs.
The star player was recognized for his outstanding performance on the field at Levi’s Stadium in Bay Area, California following the Seattle Seahawks’ game against the New England Patriots on Sunday, February 8.

“We have the best team,” head coach Mike McDonald said of his players before the live announcement.

The 25-year-old running back later expressed his gratitude for the recognition.
“First and foremost, I want to thank God for the blessing of being here. And also, I want to thank my brothers, you know, without them, none of this would have happened. We’ve been through a lot of adversity this season, but we came together and stuck together and, you know, that’s what we got,” Walker said in the postgame interview.
This is the 2021 Heisman Trophy candidate’s first championship game appearance since being drafted by the Seahawks in 2022.

The two teams had previously faced off in Super Bowl 49 in 2015, when the Patriots narrowly defeated the Seahawks 28-24 to win the championship.

The Seahawks led for much of Sunday’s game and the Patriots were held scoreless until the fourth quarter, when Mark Hollins caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Derek Meyer with about 12 minutes left.
Meyer’s second touchdown in the final seconds of the game, when Rhamondre Stevenson caught a pass and completed a 7-yard touchdown, giving Seattle a 29-13 lead with a few minutes left in the game.

In the end, the Seahawks emerged victorious and became two-time Super Bowl champions.
As a cloud of green and blue confetti filled the sky, Walker was named the game’s MVP.
Other highlights from the big game included Green Day opening the show with a pre-game mini-concert, playing their biggest hits including “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” “Holiday” and “American Idiot.”
As an added bonus, several MVPs from the past 60 championship games also joined the band on stage to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Super Bowl.
