Kekua Aumua flipped his commitment from Florida to Washington and will sign with the Huskies

Kahuku (Hawaii) tight end Kequa Omuah has changed his promise Florida arrive washington And will sign with the Huskies.

Aumua told us on Monday night that he would postpone Wednesday’s signing in the hope of having more time to consider his decision. In addition to the Gators and Huskies, Aumua is also seriously considering Auburn, which he just visited last weekend.

Ultimately, Aumua decided to stay in the West and chose Washington over two SEC programs.

“A big factor in my decision was my relationship with tight ends coach (Jordan) Paopao,” Aumua said. “We’ve been talking for a few years and I feel very comfortable with him.

“Not only is he a good guy, he’s a very good coach. He’s developed a lot of very good tight ends who have gone on to the NFL, and that’s my goal as well.”

Aumua took an official visit to Washington in late October, and the Huskies drew some serious attention last month as the team to beat.

Part of the reason is that Washington is the only player on his favorite team with a head coach. We know his family has also been very supportive of Washington throughout this cycle.

“My family loved it there during my official visit,” Omuah said. “I’ve visited UW several times, but on my official trip, they were able to come out and see the place up close and they really enjoyed the trip.

“I like the school, its location and its offense. They use tight ends there, and Washington felt like the best fit for me.”

Aumua, nicknamed “Rhino,” was a huge tight end who looked like he could easily develop into an offensive lineman, but his heart was always a tight end.

We’ve seen him in multiple events over the years, including the Under Armor combine in Hawaii and the Polynesian Bowl combine in Las Vegas, where he displays natural hands, runs the ball well and uses his body to create separation.

He’s a true interior tight end, a strong blocker and should be able to perform at the next level in any situation.
