Justin Herbert remains limited in Friday’s practice

Justin Herbert practiced on a limited basis for the second consecutive time after having surgery on Monday to repair a broken left hand.

The Chargers quarterback is considered an everyday player, and both he and coach Jim Harbaugh are optimistic about his performance this week against the Eagles.

Herbert was injured on a 1-yard scramble after Jeremy Chinn threw the quarterback to the ground. On the next play, he threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Quentin Johnston to give the Chargers a 7-0 lead after their first possession.

Herbert missed a few games and then came back to finish with a cast and glove on his left hand.

The Chargers practiced without tight end Tucker Fisk (ankle) for the second straight day, but defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand (illness) returned to full participation after missing Thursday’s practice.

Running back Omarion Hampton (ankle), wide receiver Quentin Johnston (shoulder), offensive lineman Trey Pipkins III (back) and offensive lineman Jamari Salier (shoulder) were fully active Friday after doing limited work Thursday.
