With Bayern Munich planning to offer the striker a new contract, Liverpool’s interest in Michael Olise cannot be ignored.
The Frenchman has been targeted by the Merseyside giants, who are keen to strengthen the wings (a side that has largely underperformed this season).

Mo Salah is undoubtedly an Anfield legend, but he appears to be closing in on the finish line for L4. Should the Egypt international leave in the summer, the former Crystal Palace man’s arrival will certainly go some way to bridging the gap.
Liverpool’s interest in Michael Olise remains
Of course, Bayern do have a time advantage, with Olise’s contract remaining for three years even after the end of the 2025/26 season.
“Michael Olis is currently under contract until 2029 and Bayern Munich want him to sign a new contract until 2031. But it all takes time,” Exclusive reporting by Christian Falk Bayern Insider.

“Olise has three years left on his current term and Bayern still have time. But, of course, they have also heard that Liverpool are interested and Manchester City are looking at the player.”
“But they also have to think about Konrad Laimer’s contract negotiations, Harry Kane’s negotiations… it’s a complicated situation. What if you sign a player until 2031 and then someone else says, ‘Hey, I want a longer contract’?”
However, given Liverpool’s growing need for a right-winger, the Sebner Street man is not keen on letting this happen.

Of course, as far as Liverpool’s interest is concerned, that particular concern may be addressed individually if Arne Slott’s side fail to qualify for the Champions League places.
Bayern are playing a dangerous game
From Liverpool’s perspective, assuming they can secure a spot in Europe’s elite competition for 2026/27, there’s an opportunity here.
“It’s a bit of a dangerous game; the longer you wait, the more you invite other clubs to pick up the phone and call the player.” Falk then added.
“At the moment, Michael Olise is not one of the highest earners (earning about 15 million euros) [£13m]. Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane are likely to earn around €10 million more.
“Bayern can always give the right winger more money, but the longer they wait, the more complicated the situation will become. Bayern does not want another ‘Upamecano case’ to happen. No one wants that!”
Olise’s annual wages of £13 million would put him alongside Cody Gakpo, said to be Liverpool’s fourth-highest-paid player.

However, if Mo Salah leaves in the summer, a significant chunk of the wage bill will be freed up, allowing the Reds to splash out on their own contracts.
Of course, Bayern must agree to the transfer first and with three years remaining on the 24-year-old’s contract, there is little pressure to accept an offer.
Still, time is of the essence. Max Eberl and his team need to offer Michael Ollis a contract that truly suits his current position at the club and in world football.
