Cardinals edge rusher Josh Sweat is the only player in the NFC with double-digit sacks who did not earn a Pro Bowl invitation. That made the eight-year veteran uncomfortable.
“I’m frustrated because you can only get two personal things, and that’s a Pro Bowl and an All-Pro,” Sweat said Wednesday, via ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss. “One of mine was taken away. I’m just saying it straight up it was taken away from me ——And this is not the first time. “

Sweat tied his single-season sack high with 11, which he also accomplished for the Eagles in 2022, and he had four forced fumbles. He signed with the Cardinals as a free agent this offseason, reunited with Jonathan Gannon and Nick Rallis after two seasons in Philadelphia, and had his best season despite the Cardinals’ lack of success.
“It was like I didn’t know what else I could do at that point,” Sweet said. “I don’t know what else I can do. In previous years, maybe you could say he wasn’t popular, maybe he didn’t get the fan vote. This year, I came in second in the fan vote.” [at outside linebacker] for [the] NFC. Like, what else do they want me to do? The popularity is there. It can be said that we lost. It doesn’t matter; I’m popular. “
Giants linebacker Brian Burns and Rams linebackers Byron Young and Jared Verse were selected as Pro Bowlers at the position.
Sweet said it’s “frustrating” that he hasn’t been recognized for his performance this season.

“The fans said, ‘He should be the guy; we want him in.’ My performance showed that I should be in,” Sweet said. “But somewhere in the league, some popular guy said he shouldn’t play. I just wonder if I’m crazy. The only double-digit NFC player to not make the cut. All they do is wave a player card in your face and be like, ‘Go vote. Look at sacks and forced fumbles.’ But you’re on a hotter team or your team loses or whatever; I don’t really want to hear that. I just want what I earned and what I worked for.”
Sweat was a reserve for the 2021 Pro Bowl but was called up due to an injury to 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa.
