Former UFC two-division champion Jon Jones’ fighting days are coming to an end, and may have already been. Widely regarded as the greatest of all time, his legendary career is coming to an end.

Jones announced his retirement at the end of June last year. Two weeks later, after the UFC White House event was announced, he returned and rejoined the UFC anti-doping testing pool in hopes of competing in the historic fight.

It was recently revealed that Jones will need hip replacement surgery due to arthritis after a lifetime of fighting sports, but he is still willing to fight in the White House. Aside from this opportunity, we’re likely seeing the last of “Bones” inside the octagon.

“Looking forward to Jon Jones continuing to grow as a person (this year). Beyond my best, is the way I give back to others and try to impact these young fighters. I think my best self is on the way, and that’s a guy who doesn’t have fights. I’m excited to meet this guy and mold this guy,” Jones told Helen Yi Sports.

“I think I can get it done,” Jones continued. “I’m young enough to compete against some of the best fighters in the world. I’m healthy enough to compete against some of the best fighters in the world, but I’ve always been used to competing against the best fighters in the world. So, I don’t know. It’s a really high standard to hold up to. So maybe it’s just, you know, doing it right and quitting at a really good time.

“I don’t want to be one of those fighters who wins some, loses some and can’t remember his name. I met a fighter a few years ago who didn’t know what his birthday was and it was a lot of fights. I’m so far away from that, I don’t even want to know what that’s like.”
