John Harbaugh will almost completely retool his staff with the Giants

It’s definitely time for John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens to move on from each other. Maybe Harbaugh has lost some of his ability to coach fastballs, and if that’s the case, we could be seeing him take over the New York Giants soon.

In Baltimore, things have stalled significantly.

With everyone involved getting a fresh start, Harbaugh will now almost completely shake up the Giants coaching staff. according to a report new york postOnly two assistants from former head coach Brian Daboll’s staff will be retained – outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen and tight ends coach Tim Kelly.

Everyone else will be new, including both coordinators. It seems unlikely that Harbaugh will retain former Giants head coach and later interim head coach Mike Kafka. Harbaugh’s former Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken is the most likely candidate to reprise his old role with the Giants. The Giants’ DC position is an open competition, with Anthony Weaver (Dolphins DC), Dennard Wilson (former Titans DC) and Jim Leonhard (assistant head coach, Broncos defensive passing coordinator) considered to be the leading candidates.

Meanwhile, former Ravens assistant head coach/running backs coach Willie Taggart will join Harbaugh in Gotham City. Harbaugh fell out of favor in Baltimore for a number of reasons, but he still brought a lot to the table. The Giants realized this and quickly grabbed him.

Harbaugh understands the big picture, even beyond football. This was perhaps best demonstrated in 2020, when the Black Lives Matter movement took center stage across the league, Harbaugh made some powerful public remarks it.

He is also known as the “Players Coach”. Ravens running back Derrick Henry pointed out a player-friendly approach from Harbaugh.

“He had a great philosophy on how to run a team and how to treat players,” Henry told The Escapist in an exclusive interview.

“After we won, he would point out every player that had an impact on the game. Even if it wasn’t noticed nationally, he would make sure that the hard work they put in for the team was appreciated by the entire organization.”

The Giants have been a real mess in recent years, and turning things around won’t be easy. However, Harbaugh did have the coaching bona fide to finally turn things around.
