Jio Things, in partnership with Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek, on Thursday announced the launch of ‘Made in India’ 4G smart Android digital clusters and 4G smart modules in India. The devices are part of Jio Things’ Internet of Things (IoT) solutions for the country’s two-wheeler and electric vehicle (EV) market. According to the company, the IoT devices leverage MediaTek’s chipset technology while also leveraging digital solutions provided by the Reliance Jio IoT platform.

Features of Jio Things 4G smart digital cluster

Jio Things 4G smart digital clusters run on Android-based AvniOS, which is built on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). It provides real-time data analysis and customizable interface for two-wheelers and supports touchscreen displays with Full HD+ resolution. The devices are powered by MediaTek’s MT8766 and MT8768 chipsets developed specifically for the tablet market.

The device also offers voice recognition capabilities for easy control, while also integrating with vehicle controllers via a cluster operating system. Jio claims that its smart digital cluster will help OEMs reduce the time required to integrate IoT solutions into their products.

“This solution leverages MediaTek’s advanced chipset technology and JioThings’ visionary digital solutions to deliver next-generation smart clusters that meet the evolving needs of the global two-wheeler market,” CK Wang, general manager of MediaTek’s IoT business, said in a prepared statement.

According to the company, the device comes with Jio Automotive App Suite, which includes apps like Jio Voice Assistant, JioSaavn, JioPages, and JioXploR, all of which are said to be available for users. For electric vehicles, the Jio Things 4G smart digital cluster comes with support for IoT charging infrastructure and an optimized smart battery management system. It is also said to come with a “unique service package.”
