New York Jets fans may have all their eyes on Friday night’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, which includes two former quarterbacks in the 2026 draft class, Fernando Mendoza and Dante Moore.

The Jets have a glaring hole at quarterback and will likely draft a new trigger-happy prospect with the No. 2 overall pick in April’s draft. But what if they decide to go in a different direction and wait until 2027 to get their quarterback of the future?

The crown jewel of the 2027 draft is Texas quarterback Arch Manning, and New York, with three first-round picks in that draft, may be in an ideal position to move up and acquire the newest NFL quarterback from Manning’s pedigree. But will the family allow Archie to take his talents to the Jets?

Connor Hughes throws cold water on Jets’ Archie Manning

After Moore threw the sixth pick in Game 1 of the Peach Bowl, an X user posted on Jets insider Connor Hughes that New York should “wait for Archie.”

Hughes’ response may upset some Jets fans.

“The Manning family will let him get his PhD before letting him play for the Jets 😂😂,” Hughes responded.

Peyton Manning had the opportunity to declare for the 1997 NFL Draft, with the Jets holding the No. 1 overall pick, but he chose to return to Tennessee for one more season, possibly at the request of his father.

Everyone remembers the 2004 NFL Draft, when Eli Manning was drafted first overall by the San Diego Chargers but declined to play for the team. He was eventually traded to the New York Giants.

It’s also possible the Manning family may be trying to manipulate where Archie lands, given their past history.
