Jeff Hafley reaches agreement with Miami Dolphins to become their coach, AP source says

The Miami Dolphins and Jeff Hafley have reached an agreement to name the former Boston College head coach and Packers defensive coordinator as their coach, a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press on Monday.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the contract has not yet been finalized.

Hafley replaces Mike McDaniel, who was fired after a 35-33 record in four seasons. The Dolphins also fired longtime general manager Chris Grier this season.

Hafley, who spent two seasons in Green Bay, had a second interview with the Dolphins earlier Monday before getting the job. He will rejoin new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan in Miami.

Hafley, 46, left his job at Boston College in 2024 to become Green Bay’s defensive coordinator, where he worked with Sullivan the past two seasons.

Sullivan was Green Bay’s vice president of player personnel and spent 22 seasons with the Packers before becoming the Dolphins’ general manager.
