No one would be surprised if Kliff Kingsbury leaves the Washington Commanders after this season. After a forgettable first season at the helm of the Washington offense, Kingsbury turned down potential head coaching interviews to return to the staff and work with Jayden Daniels.
Washington ended the 2025 regular season on Sunday with a 5-12 record. One report states that even if Kingsbury doesn’t land the head coaching job, there’s a chance he won’t return in 2026. It’s been a losing season for the Commanders, who have been plagued by injuries. Offensively, Washington star receiver Terry McLaurin missed half the season and Daniels suffered three separate injuries that derailed his second NFL season.

There are other injuries, but these are the most expensive. As a result, Washington’s offense took a step back. Kingsbury is doing well in 2025 considering the cards he’s been dealt.
So despite rumors that Kingsbury won’t return next season, he was recognized on social media after Sunday’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Jayden Daniels’ mother, Regina Jackson, responded to the Commanders’ social media posts via the X website following their win.
Jackson’s endorsement means nothing to general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn. However, do you think Jackson would have posted this message if her son, Washington’s star quarterback, wanted Kingsbury gone?

While Kingsbury’s future is unclear, he appears to have the support of the team’s most important players. This is important.
