CNN Jake Tapper Everyone had a good laugh Thursday after watching a police officer testify in court that he couldn’t tell if his wife had been unfaithful to him.
An Ohio jury on Wednesday ruled in favor of Afroman, the rapper behind the 2000 hit “Cuz I’m High,” in a defamation lawsuit filed by police against the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
Tapper writes in Thursday’s edition of leaderhe said Afroman’s most famous song “was a hit song then. It’s a hit song now.”
In 2022, Adams County police executed a search warrant on the home of Avroman, whose real name is Joseph Foreman. Police were said to be looking for signs of drug trafficking and kidnapping but found no such evidence. In response, Foreman recorded an album about the incident titled Lemon Pound Cakewhich features songs like “Police Raid,” “Why Did You Disconnect My Camera,” and “Will You Fix My Door.”
“They didn’t find the kidnapping victim,” Afroman sings in one of the songs. “Just some lemon pound cake.”
“Lemon pound cake,” Tapper repeated. “Believe it or not, the police who broke into his home listened to the many songs Afroman had written with their money. sued Avroman was convicted of defamation in 2023. “
Tapper then played a clip of a police officer who testified at the trial:
Counselor: Does this make you think wrong about you?
Officer: Yes, my wife was cheating on me with Mr. Foreman.
Counselor: But we all know that’s not true, right?
Officer: I don’t know.

Counselor: Wait, you don’t know if your wife is cheating on you?
Tapper let out a breathy laugh as he welcomed Afroman to the show.
“Mr. Forman, how do you feel after the jury made this decision?” the host asked.
“With pleasure,” Avroman replied. “I feel good. I feel really good, I feel great. I’m glad free speech and common sense still exists.”
