“We want to be proactive and use our platform to spread the word and see if we can be proactive and help people avoid this terrible disease,” Pearson said of lung cancer.

Pearson played eight NFL seasons with the Chiefs in the 1980s and 1990s, seven of them as a defensive back. He played in 90 games for Kansas City, including one memorable night at Arrowhead Stadium.

“1991 The Monday night football game against Buffalo (Bills) was in its prime, four Super Bowls in a row. They were running the AFC and they came here and it was the beginning of Arrowhead Stadium, and it has a mystique about that stadium now,” Peele said. Mori said, “You hear people talk about the atmosphere being electric; that was the first time I really felt that. There was something about that buzz that you could feel in the air when we came out and warmed up, and we put it on Monday night in front of the country, and that led to where we are now, or the beginning of it.”

The recent decision to move the Chiefs to Kansas and plan to open a new stadium in 2031 has drawn both praise and criticism. Pearson weighed in on the opportunity to bring a new era to the franchise.
