The San Francisco 49ers have added another Hall of Famer. The wait is over for Roger Craig, as the legend and trailblazer joins the following players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s 2025 class:

Luke Kuechly
Adam Vinatieri

Not surprisingly, the loudest cheers came from Craig. Voters finally got it right, and Craig was elected in front of a 49ers-supporting crowd.
Here is the official statement from the 49ers:
“Roger Craig was a player who revolutionized the running back position, producing one of the most historic individual seasons in NFL history to date. Throughout his career, Roger not only accumulated high levels of production and statistics as a runner and pass catcher, but also produced iconic performances that helped the 49ers achieve their ultimate goal of a Super Bowl championship. We applaud Roger for his induction and his rightful place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.”
Craig’s Honor:
A three-time Super Bowl champion (XIX, XXIII and XXIV), a two-time All-Pro (Second Team – 1985; First Team – 1988) and a four-time Pro Bowl selection (1986, 1988-90), Craig redefined the role of the modern running back. He helped the 49ers win Super Bowl XIX, becoming the first player in the Super Bowl era to complete three or more total touchdowns (two receiving and one rushing). In 1985, Craig rushed for 1,050 yards and received 1,016 yards, becoming the first player to rush for more than 1,000 yards and receive more than 1,000 yards in a single season. This feat has only been accomplished twice in NFL history. In 1988, Craig was named Associated Press He was named Offensive Player of the Year with 310 carries for 1,502 yards and nine touchdowns and 76 receptions for 534 yards and one touchdown through the air. His scrimmage yards that season ranked first in the NFL with 2,036, and his rushing yards with 1,502 ranked third. Craig was also a two-time recipient of the team’s Ryan Ashmont Award (1985 and 1988), the 49ers’ most prestigious annual honor, which is presented annually to the player who best exemplifies Ryan Ashmont’s “inspiring and courageous play.”
