Earlier this week, Italian winger Chiesa made a dramatic 93rd-minute run across the goal line and denied Wilson Isidor across half-field to save Italy a point in the Premier League at home to Sunderland in the 93rd minute.

Chiesa has not played for the Italian national team since June 2024, when the Azzurri lost 2-0 to Switzerland and faced the last 16 knockout rounds of the European Cup 2024.
The Italian winger has turned down an international call-up under Gennaro Gattuso as he aims to gain full fitness at club level before returning to the Azzurri.
Gattuso’s assistant Leonardo Bonucci has left the door open for Chiesa to return in 2026, when the Azzurri face Northern Ireland in the World Cup play-off semi-finals on March 26.
