The Chennai Singams clinched the Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) Season 3 title for the first time with an outstanding all-round performance as they beat Kolkata’s Tiigers by 29 runs in the final at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium on Friday.
The Singams dominated the title race from start to finish in front of a packed house in the presence of ISPL core committee members Sachin Tendulkar, Ashish Shelar, Minal Amol Kale and Suraj Samat and president of operations Dipak Chauhan.
After winning the coin toss, Chennai elected to bat first. Openers Ketan Mhat and Jagannath Sarkar set the tone early on. Jagannath survived a missed catch in the first over and Ketan launched a blistering attack to score 28 in the second over. Jagannath departed at 14 hrs but Ketan continued the attack. At 50-50, Saroj Pramanik hit twice in the first two balls to temporarily limit Chennai’s momentum. However, Sarfaraz Khan’s crucial six kept the scoreboard ticking.
Ketan top-scored with 30 off 16 balls while Sarfaraz finished with 20 off 11 balls. There were late fireworks from Ganesh and Sambhaji, who hit a huge nine to knock Chennai to 103/7 in 10 overs.
Kolkata could never find momentum in their chase of 104. Rajat Mundhe and Saroj Pramanik struggled early, before Jagannath Sarkar made the breakthrough, dismissing Saroj for 11 runs.
Although Krushna Gawali and Rajat scored 18 runs in the 50-50 over, Ankur Singh fought back by removing Rajat. Arish Khan (25 off 9) showed some brief resistance but it was not enough as Kolkata scored just 74/9 to hand Chennai a historic victory.
Anurag Sarshar batted for the Singams and finished with figures of 3/17, while Sunil Kumar and Ankur Singh took two wickets each.
Jagannath Sarkar won the ISPL 2026 Most Valuable Player (MVP) award and a Porsche 911 car, a highlight of the season and one of the biggest individual awards in the history of competitive sports in the country.
