iOS 14, iPadOS 14 Public Beta: How to Download and Install

Apple announced iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 at WWDC 2020 and has since made them available as developer betas. Now, the Cupertino-based tech giant has announced that the first public beta versions of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 are now available for download. The latest version of iOS brings a host of new features, such as a new app library, home screen widgets, offline translation, and more.

Before checking whether your device is eligible for the update, we recommend that you only install the beta version on your secondary iPhone or iPad. Since this is a beta version, you may encounter some major bugs. To avoid this, it is always recommended not to install beta software on your primary device. Nonetheless, below is a list of all devices that are eligible for iOS 14 and iPadOS 14.

iOS 14, iPadOS 14 public beta 1: How to download and install

Before you proceed to install the latest software on your device, make sure you have a full backup and your device has at least 50% battery or is connected to a charger. Now, follow the steps below.

1. Visit Apple’s Beta Software Program website on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Next, log in with your Apple ID and register your device in the Apple Beta Software Program.
3. After that, go to set up > General > Software updates Get the latest iOS public beta on your iPhone or iPad.
4. Wait for your device to finish downloading the software. Once completed, you can start the installation process, after which your iPhone or iPad will be running iOS 14 or iPadOS 14.
